Kuchchwahas of Amber-Jaipur
Dhola Rai was the legendary founder of this clan. Like Bappa Rawal he was
brought up amongst tribals, the Minas, who gave him shelter. When he came of
age he went to the Tomar Court at Delhi where he befriended other Rajput
warriors. With their aid he attacked his Mina benefactors and established his
own kingdom (967 AD). He is famous for his romantic elopement with Maroni
(Maru), Princess of Ajmer. But they were attacked by Mina tribals and Dhola
was killed.
Dhola's grandson continued the feud with the Minas and conquered the fort of
Amber establishing his capital there.
Raja Bhagwan Singh
Gave his daughter in marriage to the Emperor Akbar and established a practice
of matrimonial alliances between Hindu princesses and the Moghul house.
